TSH Bologna
The new complex is the result of a renovation involving a change of use and an expansion of the existing ex-TIM building in the Bolognina district. The project is proposed as a dynamic driving force for the revitalization of the whole area, with more than 350 beds and common services open to the entire neighborhood.

TSH Bologna is designed by maintaining the original volume (two floors below grade and two above), and the addition of a new third floor that is well recognizable compared to the frame of the existing building. The ground floor acts as a hinge between the urban fabric and the private one, a true pulsing heart within the structure with direct access to the courtyard. All the social functions related to TSH are placed at this level: hall, meeting areas, relaxation areas, reading areas, gym, common kitchen, coworking area.
Rooms are located on the three floors above grade and range in accommodation typology from single to double rooms, junior suites and residential units with kitchens. On the second floor, users can take advantage of the existing terrace, whereas the new roof on the third floor houses technical rooms and mechanical systems (photovoltaic panels) to achieve energetic excellence. The two underground floors are dedicated to car and bike parking, technical and support areas.
During the progress of the final design phases, and working alongside the Development department of TSH group, redevelopment strategies were identified to focus design at the ground floor and the aesthetics of the façades and volumetric addition through chromatic and finishing details that express both the identity of the Dutch group and the regenerative process behind the project.
