The scheme includes a four-section kindergarten, and a 10-classroom elementare school. The design intends to address the educational issues through architectural and environmental considerations.
The landscape, with its strong slope, typical of the region, poses issues in terms of the building's positioning, access layout and the design of the external spaces of the complex, within an alocated site which develops longitudinally, spanning from north to south.
The brick facades is reminiscent of local building tradition. The curtain walls represent moderate concessione to modernità, permeatine the inner spaces with diffuse natural lighting.
The teaching spaces are designed for maximum flexibility, entroducing a great deal of freedom for group work and play in the various classrooms.
The fulcrum of the project is located within the elementare school: the plan follows the round contours, with a slight bend, thus orientating the main facades to the east and the west. These are largely curtain-walled, in orded to maximise natural illumination. The access shows the same concern for placing and orientation: a stair rises from the main road towards the elementare school's building, then turning into a balcone running along the convex facade facing the internal courtyard, which is landscaped and equipped for play.
The building's form of the elementare school's building responds to need of simpliocity and accuracy, developing a language that juxtapposes traditional elements and modernità. The design revolves around the main distribution space on two levels: on the top a balcone and the large glass walls help perceive the space as light and airy, with a large area developing as a double height space.
A great deal of attention has been paid to the relationship between inside and outside: the visual relationship is expanded and extended, the teaching spaces are directly connects to the outdoor spaces in order to expand the teaching possibilities
