The whole design concept of the complex is centered on its final users (babies and kids), both in terms of layout and architectural language: its shape and colours recall the toys and objects they play with daily, making it enjoyable and recognizable in the urban fabric.
The project was developed aiming to a "A Class" sustainability certification: classrooms orientation to South - South/East, shape/surface ratio optimization and natural lighting enhancement were thus the basic criteria followed in the design process in order to hold down construction and management costs of the complex.
A womb-like inner garden works as a protected public space around which all the functions orbit; the facilities (offices, kitchen, teachers' rooms) all face north, while all the classrooms (and their outdoor spaces) open to the south.
